Summit Truck Bodies 132,000 square foot production facility is centrally located in Wathena, Kansas, making it convenient and cost-effective to ship anywhere in North America. Our core belief in being vertically integrated helps us meet the demands for custom builds by manufacturing the highest quality product while maintaining short lead times and providing the best on-going support and service in the industry. This has helped us earn a reputation for superior flexibility and on-time delivery. Each day the same craftsmen weld, paint, assemble, and test every Summit body ensuring quality routine work is done at all times. We work to achieve the same goals, consistency, and long-lasting quality. We do it better than anyone else.

We begin with our in-house design process using computer-aided 3D design software and FEA (finite element analysis) to ensure strength and reliability. Once designs are customer approved they are sent to the production floor.

Next is the fabrication process when operators load pre-programmed computer-aided fiber laser cutting machines with raw steel and aluminum. Once parts are cut, precision bends are made using press brakes for manufacturing proficiency.

On to the welding bay where highly trained welders and robotic welding stations incorporate speed and accuracy in the manufacturing process. All welds are inspected by quality assurance personnel.

Painters take everybody through a three-step paint process consists of a phosphate wash, PPG epoxy primer, and PPG Delfleet topcoat. The protective coating is also applied. Meanwhile, our chassis prep team equips the cab and chassis as needed before the body is mounted.

Moving on to final assembly our specialized service & lube body technicians mount the body to chassis, assemble and install cranes, electrical and hydraulic components, and other accessories. QA inspectors ensure the quality and workmanship you expect and deserve in every Summit body.

Before leaving the factory our detailers thoroughly clean each truck top to bottom and install safety decals. At this time our graphics company will install custom-designed fleet graphics.
