As America marks its 250th anniversary, we’re celebrating the people whose work supports the country every day. For Amanda and Joshua, founders of JT Welding & Line Boring, that work means helping Indiana equipment owners keep their machines running while building their own business.
Their story brings together military service, years of skilled-trades experience, and the determination to turn that experience into an independent livelihood.
From Experience to Ownership
Joshua has extensive experience in corporate welding and line boring, along with four years of military service in the same specialty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Those skills became the foundation for JT Welding & Line Boring, which Amanda and Joshua established in February 2021.
Starting the company gave them the opportunity to make their own business decisions and pursue greater financial independence. It also required a substantial personal commitment. In the early stages, they sold a personal asset to fund the business and buy the equipment they needed.
Since then, they have grown their customer base and developed relationships with vendors that support their work. Joshua leads the repair operations, while Amanda handles the responsibilities that keep the business running: customer communication, bookkeeping, inventory, vendor relationships and parts procurement.
Their partnership connects the work on the jobsite with the planning and coordination behind it.
Bringing the Repair to the Equipment
JT Welding & Line Boring serves rock quarries, agricultural businesses and aggregate operations throughout Indiana. Its work includes repairing buckets, booms and loader frames; refurbishing loader center pins; repairing cylinders; and maintaining farm implements.
These repairs support equipment that customers depend on to move material and complete daily work. When a machine goes down, transporting it to a repair facility adds costs and extends its time out of service.
Amanda and Joshua built their service around bringing the repair capabilities to the customer. Mobile, on-site work reduces transportation demands and lets equipment owners address repairs where their machines are located.
For a small business serving demanding industries, arriving prepared is essential.
A Service Truck Built Around the Job
JT Welding & Line Boring uses custom-built Summit service trucks to carry the tools and equipment its work requires.
Custom line bore boxes help organize specialized tools and make them easier to retrieve. Automatic hose reels, large work decks and cranes support the repair work performed in the field. Together, those features help Joshua bring an organized workspace to each customer’s location.
The truck’s role is practical: keep equipment accessible and support the work that needs to happen once the technician arrives. For JT Welding & Line Boring, that preparation is part of delivering professional service and completing projects on time.
Celebrating the People Behind the Work
America’s 250th anniversary offers an opportunity to recognize the people building its future through their everyday work. Skilled tradespeople repair the equipment that other businesses rely on. Small-business owners invest their resources, develop customer relationships and take responsibility for the service they deliver.
Amanda and Joshua’s brought their experience to a new venture, worked through the challenges of getting established, and built a business serving equipment owners across Indiana.
At Summit, we’re proud to support customers like JT Welding & Line Boring. As we celebrate America 250, we’re recognizing their commitment to their craft and the work they do to help keep America moving.
